Equal Education Opportunities: JAMB Issues Free UTME Application for PLWDs

By Fatimoh Akinpelu

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive education by offering a free Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) application form for Persons Living With Disabilities (PLWDs).

According to JAMB’s weekly bulletin released on Monday, 2nd January 2026, the initiative has been revamped as part of efforts to ensure equal educational opportunities for all categories of candidates aspiring to pursue higher education.

The bulletin stated that the application process for eligible candidates would be coordinated by the JAMB Equal Opportunity Group (JEOG), a unit established to cater specifically to the needs of candidates with disabilities.

The disclosure was made by the Registrar of JAMB, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, during a meeting with critical stakeholders held at the Board’s National Headquarters in Abuja. He emphasized that the initiative reflects JAMB’s resolve to eliminate barriers and promote fairness in access to tertiary education across the country.
