Ramadan: A Month to Reignite

By Fatimoh Akinpelu

Ramadan is not merely a month on the Islamic calendar. It is an invitation. A pause. A return.
It is a month to reignite.

Reignite Forgotten Kindness. In the rush of responsibilities, disappointments, and constant noise, kindness is often forgotten. The simple acts. The gentle gestures. The quiet mercies.
Ramadan calls us back to them.

Reignite the taslīm offered with sincerity, not routine. Reignite the shared tamar at iftõr, not only as food but as a symbol of brotherhood. Reignite the smile, small in effort yet heavy on the scale of reward. These actions may appear insignificant, yet in Ramadan, even the smallest deed carries multiplied weight. What the world considers little, Allah may record as immense.

Reignite Excellence in ‘Ibādah. Ramadan is not about doing more. It is about doing better.
Not rushed solãh, but prayers performed with calm presence. Not Qur’an recited only by the tongue, but verses received by a heart seeking connection. Not dhikr uttered absent-mindedly, but remembrance that softens the soul.

This is the month to refine intention and perfect sincerity.
To move from habit to awareness.
To allow worship to transform, not just occupy our time.

Reignite Our Connection With Ar-Rahmãn.
Some relationships weaken through neglect. Others fade through distraction.
Our relationship with our Rabb, Ar-Rahmãn, is sometimes affected by both. Ramadan arrives as mercy, not reproach.

Yes, this has been done before.
Yes, it is not new.
But it must be deeper.

If your ‘ibādah suddenly increases and you are labeled “over-religious,” respond with clarity and calm. It is Ramadan, a blessed month for reignition. What people describe as excess may, in reality, be a return.

Ramadan is not about becoming someone else. It is about returning to who you were created to be.
A servant.
A seeker.
A heart inclined toward its Lord.

Ramadan is a month to reignite. And if the flame is guarded carefully, it may continue to burn long after the month has passed.
