Real Madrid’s MetLife Madness: Mbappé’s Statement, Courtois’ Miracle and Alonso’s Early Imprint

By Rosheed
Real Madrid’s chaotic win over Dortmund is not just a win, it’s a statement – one that will effortlessly be imprinted in the history books as the first set of achievements of the Los Blancos under Xabi Alonso.
Quite unsurprisingly, this nature of wins is an established imprint in the Real Madrid iconic DNA. From Chelsea to Manchester City to PSG, almost no big club is spared from the wrath of the Galacticos.
Earlier in the match, Real Madrid were dominant. Gonzalo Garcia, a homegrown talent, found the back of the net just 9 minutes into the game. Then, as the halftime draws closer, Star summer transfer, Trent Alexander-Arnold, assisted his fellow full back on the opposing flank to increase Real Madrid’s chance of qualification to the next round- a statement of defiance and absolutely unpredictable attacking prowess, which is unfolding as of current.
As the game drew to a close, the once mighty Galactic defence, Rudiger, Huijsen and Asencio, conceded a goal from Maximilian Beier. A result of this was total chaos. The black and yellow were prepared to turn the game on its head.
Kylian Mbappe, the man himself, made a quick statement back to the men of Signal Iduna Park that “not this time”- a simple cross from the Turkish prodigy, Arda Guller, was turned into a full movie scene by being slotted home through a bicycle kick from who? The man himself, Kylian Mbappe.
The last ten minutes were a literal definition of chaos. An unruly foul by Dean Huijsen got him a red card and reduced the men in white to just ten men. But on their ground, they stood. The foul sets up a penalty for the men in yellow and black, which was perfectly slotted home by the Senegalese Talisman, Serhou Guirassy.
The true saviour of the galactic dream was Thibaut Courtious. Having spent a considerable amount of game time sidelined in the previous campaign, his performance in the current club World Cup is nothing short of exceptional. He brilliantly stopped a goal-bound shot by Marcel Sabitzer to keep the Galacticos in their desired lead.
In the end, when the dust settled at the Net Life Stadium, the white jersey and flag stood high, reflecting the indescribable passion and desire for excellence by the Los Blancos. A statement was made! We are Real Madrid, and it’s not over until we win.
