Come into My World

By Abduljeleel Olanrewaju (ABJ)
I called out to the voices in my head—
Indistinct echoes that rattle the mind.
Can you cut me some slack?
Just a moment—just one—for myself.
“What happened to you?” they ask.
But I fall silent. I don’t have the words.
What could I say?
That my mind aches without pause,
That my voice breaks before it speaks?
A thousand words can’t capture the feeling.
A million stars fail to mirror the meaning.
Roots deepen beneath the soil—
the soil of silent weakening.
Come into my world that darkens,
for then—the experience enlightens.
