THE TECH REVOLUTION: ADAPT OR GET LEFT BEHIND?

“If you are not evolving with tech or not in tech, I am sorry, the future is bleak. AI is ready to take your job.” Don’t come at me. Those weren’t my words, I also heard them and wondered if all my years of study in this institution might amount to a waste simply because I did not learn anything tech or integrate tech into my daily life or be a part of the fancy clique, “Tech bros or sis” as the case might be.
Technology has always evolved and gotten better and efficient with each passing generation or century than any innovation in history. Technology has always been characterized by possessing the potential to increase efficiency and reduce process time which all depends on the application of this technology.
It’s needless to state, but all sectors have that point of revolution that enhanced the functions of the sectors and introduced better processes to their systems. Then if rapid technology leverage and use is spreading like a wildfire, what then as an individual should you do in this digital age?
Like most tech inclined individuals will say, “technology has come to stay.” But how relevant are you in this technological age? Is there a need for you to locate that point where you integrate with tech, or since you’ve been doing fine before tech came about, you might as well just continue with your regular manual processes?
The choice, as always, is yours to make. However, we can highlight what pros and cons might be in it for you to leverage or continue in your path.
As a student, you now have access – free access – to more resources, journals and materials that can aid and further assist in your personal and school work. To access these resources, you need the technical knowhow to navigate the technology you possess. Scaling through this stage avails you the opportunity to get the resources at your fingertips. While some may argue that technology might introduce laxity in an individual, it is also important to note that some do not have such luxury of time to walk through manual libraries, accessing different catalogues to get the resources needed.
Correspondingly, an individual may possess some skills like writing, development, etc, but, with a brief survey, it is seen that technology – AI – tools are now capable of producing even better articles than an average human would. If at this stage you do not upscale with your skillset, leverage on the functions of the existing tech and have the extra that puts you ahead of the AI, then it is likely that AI gladly consumes your identity and no one recognizes what you do.
It is also important to note that there are some of us that have no interest in tech and this seems like a pressure buildup. Technology should rather be viewed as a trend and it is so wide and versatile that everyone can carve out a niche from it. This is your cue to begin to be interested and make intentional actions regarding technology as a whole and how your presence can get a life leveraging on it.
As technology evolves, we the individuals should also take turns with the evolution. Indulge that techy friend today and take the bold stride.
